# How to review browser test evidence

Keep the executed test, its environment and observed result together. Decide separately whether that record meets a particular review requirement.

## Why it is hard

- A screenshot without test context is easy to misinterpret.
- A commit alone does not describe what the test verified.
- Compliance interpretation requires the responsible reviewer.

## Plan the test around an observable outcome

1. Identify the outcome the reviewer needs to inspect.
2. Preserve the test definition and environment with the result.
3. Record the relevant release or commit context.
4. Apply your organization’s own review and recordkeeping requirements.

## Where Zerocheck fits

1. Open the run to inspect the exact YAML and revision.
2. Read each step’s result, screenshots and errors.
3. Use CLI JSON output when a process needs the run record.
4. Keep audit mappings and compliance approvals in your existing process.

## What the run can establish

A run shows the steps and assertions executed against an environment at a particular time. When CLI metadata is supplied, it can also show the repository, branch, commit and pull request. Explain the actual assertion and its scope when handing the record to a reviewer.

## Current product boundary

Zerocheck does not supply SOC 2 control mappings, compliance scores, audit evidence packages or policy-based retention. It provides browser test results that engineers can inspect. Any compliance use requires a separate assessment by the people responsible for that process.

## Pitfalls

- Do not present a browser pass as a compliance certification.
- Do not promise retention periods without an agreed policy.
- Do not assume a test record proves controls outside the executed flow.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Zerocheck automate SOC 2 evidence collection?

No. It provides browser run records, not an audit-evidence workflow or certification.

### Can I obtain structured results?

Yes. The optional CLI supports JSON run output and JUnit reporting.
